I bet you were wondering why I hadn't put up anything new in a while, this would be why.

For my 'Fantasy Illustration' class this is our first project, the project was to design a "gas-station" with the understanding that it must have the elements of a real gas-station with out being anything like it. No fossil fuels, no flying cars, and no stereotypical spaceships.

I think this came out fantastically considering I went out of my normal comfort zone. I'm quite fond of the red one the green one and the blue one at the bottom (and of course my little soldier who seems to have snuck in... :heart: )

<Edit>
Thought I should add in some more information about my little mechanical critters since I'm actually awake now :D

I did my best to make them all as gender neutral as possible since that's always the big issue I have with any completely robotic creatures since they wouldn't be reproducing like something organic. It seems to have worked out quite well.

Secondly I always thought that a completely inorganic species would be unlikely to come into being all on it's own, rather they would have been created by another species and have one way or another become independent from them, as such they would most likely be based off of their creator's species and through time become more and more unique as they grow distant from their roots. I imagine that this particular species is some where near the start of this process, still bearing a strong resemblance to their creators despite having become independent and slowly changing into something new.
It would be interesting to see what direction they grow in, weather their kind will each look different and unique or if they will develop into something of a hive-mind, perhaps a combination of the two?

Their fuel source, if you couldn't tell, is electricity. While that seems fairly simple, and probably expected, I chose it for two reasons. Firstly there are a multitude of ways to generate it, weather it's something simple like a turbine or complex as from solar radiation. Secondly it is ultimately a stable energy source; where as perhaps "interstellar plasma" or "nuclear runoff" sound more interesting they would be highly unstable and probably not in ready supply. So the long and short of it is, that while electricity may not sound exciting all on it's own, there are many interesting ways to get it.

Lastly in case any one was curious; a gestalt is a collection of things (be they actual objects, people, ideas etc) that while are unique and different on their own, when put together are unable to be distinguished form the other pieces.

As a cute side note the little chibi electric bolts light up when someone is plugged into the chargeing station and 'sleep' when not in use.

Why are there four types of electricity outlets...?

I do like how different they all are from each other.
